About Me
I’m Cristina “Cris” Bozas, a contemporary abstract artist originally from Caracas, Venezuela. I moved to the U.S. in 1998 and have been based in Massachusetts since 2012. My journey in art began early, nurtured by a family of craft artists, architects, and marketers who instilled a deep appreciation for aesthetics and creativity. Driven by curiosity and a passion for self-expression, I discovered my voice through painting and drawing. After studying graphic design and spending over 20 years in marketing as a creative director, I transitioned to my true calling: acrylic abstract painting.
My background in design and love for artistic exploration shape my unique abstract expressionist style. My work tells stories through layered colors and textures, inviting viewers to connect with emotions like joy, nostalgia, peace, and passion. Each piece offers a pause, a moment to engage with the energy of the present, and often reflects the viewer’s inner landscape.
Inspired by both the raw beauty of horizons and the complexity of human emotions, my art bridges the external environment and the inner world. Through layered textures and bold colors, I celebrate nature’s power and serenity, offering a space for reflection and reconnection.
My approach combines intuitive expression with intentional focus. I start with vibrant, spontaneous sketches that evolve into layered compositions of bold color and texture, each revealing a story. Using a unique technique I’ve developed, I apply thick, flowing threads of paint to create organic, textured shapes that draw the viewer in and create an immersive, tactile experience.
